How to Choose the Right Size of Sculpting Leggings
Sculpting leggings are unlike any other leggings. Their raised knit and high waist are designed to sit exactly where they should: on the waist, the hips and along the leg. Too large, they lose their support; too small, they become uncomfortable. Choosing the right size is therefore the first step to enjoying the full sculpting effect.
Here is our simple, reliable method to find yours.
1. Start with your usual size
SVELIA leggings have a close-to-the-body fit, designed to move with you. In most cases, your usual size is the right one. If you usually wear a French 40 (UK 12, US 8), start with S; a French 42, M; and so on.
2. Check against a pair that already fits you
To confirm, nothing beats comparing with leggings you love to wear. Lay them flat without stretching them and take three measurements:
- Waist: measure the waistband from edge to edge, then double the result.
- Hips: measure horizontally across the widest part of the garment, then double it.
- Length: measure from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the leg.
Then compare your results with the chart below.
3. The SVELIA size chart
| Size | FR / EU | Waist | Hips | Length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 40 | 58 cm | 68 cm | 79 cm |
| M | 42 | 62 cm | 72 cm | 81 cm |
| L | 44 | 66 cm | 76 cm | 83 cm |
| XL | 46 | 70 cm | 80 cm | 85 cm |
| XXL | 48 | 74 cm | 84 cm | 86 cm |
Measurements taken directly on the garment, unstretched.
Why do these numbers look small? They are the measurements of the leggings themselves, at rest. The knit stretches to follow your silhouette, which is what creates the support. It is therefore normal for the garment's waist measurement to be smaller than your own. Do not compare this chart with your body measurements, but with a pair of leggings you already wear.
4. Between two sizes? Choose the larger one
If your measurements fall between two sizes, or if you prefer a slightly less snug fit, go for the larger size. You will gain comfort without losing the sculpting effect of the 3D knit.
5. Signs you have the right size
Once your leggings are on, a few cues tell you the size is right:
- The waistband stays in place when you bend or sit, without rolling down or digging in.
- Your tummy feels supported, without any feeling of compression.
- The raised knit follows your curves, with no wrinkles at the knees or ankles.
- You move freely, at the studio as in the city.
If the waistband slips down or the fabric wrinkles, the size is probably too large. If the waistband feels tight or leaves marks, go one size up.
6. Keep their hold wash after wash
To help your leggings keep their texture and stretch, wash them cold or at 30°C and avoid the tumble dryer. Heat wears out elastic fibres: drying flat, in the open air, preserves the support for longer.
